Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Tharwat El-Sharkawy is currently serving as a Assistant Professor in Quality Assurance Department of Radiochemistry, Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority, Egypt. His recent activities include: Efficiency calibration of HP Germanium detectors for soil samples using different types of counting containers, study and validation. Radiochemical separation of Ra-228 from water samples using Diphonix resin and measurement using liquid scintillation counting.Separation of Ra-226 and Ra-228 from water using ion-exchange resin, and measurements by Gamma spectroscopy. Radiochemical separation of U-238, U-234 and U-235 from water, and measurements by Alpha spectrometry. Methods validation and comparison study.The behavior of Ra-226 and Ra-228 in a water-soil-plant system. Radiochemical separation of Pu, Am, Sr and Cs isotopes from seawater, method validation. He has also attended many workshops and authored many articles.
