Dr. Jarett Mazzarella is a staff Optometrist in the Salisbury VA Health Care System, Salisbury, NC. Dr. Mazzarella graduated with a BS from Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA in 2001 and was awarded his doctorate of Optometry (O.D.) in 2005 from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Mazzarella completed an ocular disease residency in 2006 at the W. G. “Bill” Hefner VAMC through the Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, TN. Dr. Mazzarella currently resides as a staff optometrist at the Salisbury, NC VAMC where he precepts externs and residents in a primary eye care, hospitalized based, setting. His other professional experience includes an MD/OD referral based practice and private practice. Dr. Mazzarella is a member of the AOA and the North Carolina Optometric Society. He is a Fellow of the AAO and been past president of the North Carolina Chapter of the AAO. Additionally, he is a member of the NAVAO and currently sits on their membership committee. Dr. Mazzarella is an adjunct clinical professor at Salus University, Ohio State University, and the Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Mazzarella has publications in the areas of glaucoma, diabetes, neurodegeneration and OCT technology. He has lectured at various professional organizations throughout North Carolina. He has research interests in carotid occlusive disease and ocular co-morbidities as well as duel sensory impairment. Jarett Mazzarella currently resides in High Point, NC.
