Bio: Dr. Wirginia Kukula-Koch is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacognosy with Medicinal Plants Unit of Medical University of Lublin, Poland and a Pharmacy graduate. In her research carrier she is dealing with natural products chemistry. The optimization of extraction and purification protocols of alkaloids, phenolic compounds, saponins and terpenes of plant origin are within her scientific interests. In her work, she is implementing novel counter-current chromatography, but also a specialist in the LC-MS based structure elucidation of natural products. She developed her scientific skills in various research centers around the world: Friedrich-Koenig University of Bonn (Germany, 4 months), National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece, 19 months), and Tokushima Bunri University (Japan, 7 months). She is a member of Polish Pharmacopoeia Commission and prepare plant monographs for the European Pharmacopoeia (TCM group). Also, an editorial board member of several international scientific journals and a member of organizing committee of International Symposium on Chromatography of Natural Products organized biannually in Poland.
